God So Loved Us

The Most Holy Trinity

11 June 2017
First reading                                                                                                          Exodus 34:4-6,8-9
With the two tablets of stone in his hands, Moses went up the mountain of Sinai in the early morning as the Lord had commanded him. And the Lord descended in the form of a cloud, and Moses stood with him there.
  He called on the name of the Lord. The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, a God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger rich in kindness and faithfulness.’ And Moses bowed down to the ground at once and worshipped. ‘If I have indeed won your favour, Lord,’ he said ‘let my Lord come with us, I beg. True, they are a headstrong people, but forgive us our faults and our sins, and adopt us as your heritage.’

Responsorial Psalm

Daniel 3:52-55

Second reading2 Corinthians 13:11-13
Brothers, we wish you happiness; try to grow perfect; help one another. Be united; live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
  Greet one another with the holy kiss. All the saints send you greetings.
  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
the God who is, who was, and who is to come.
Alleluia!

GospelJohn 3:16-18
Jesus said to Nicodemus:
‘God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost
but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world
not to condemn the world,
but so that through him the world might be saved.
No one who believes in him will be condemned;
but whoever refuses to believe is condemned already,
because he has refused to believe in the name of God’s only Son.’

Reflection
by Benj Santiago

"God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send His Son to the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

The Jerusalem of the olden times has been long waiting for the Messiah. Jesus came and dwell with them about 2000 years ago. He healed the sick, performed miracles, brought Lazarus back to life, died on the cross, buried, and rose again to life. Yet, it is a sad reality that even up to present days, a lot of Jews still do not believe that Christ was God’s only Son!

Blessed are we Catholic Christians for we have not seen Him but believed. We have the promise of an everlasting life. However, sometimes our actions and ways do not conform with our beliefs. We stray away from His teachings and ways. We only carry the name Christian in word but not in deeds. But, we have a consolation that God’s immense love for us enables us to repent and return to Him. He does not give His final judgement and condemnation every time we sin. He is always present through the Holy Spirit to take care of us, bless us and love us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we praise You and glorify You Lord for sending us Your only begotten Son. We believe He is our Messiah, our Savior, our Gate to Eternal Life. We ask You Father to strengthen our faith so that we can be a light for others to find and believe Jesus in their hearts and minds. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus and through the most holy intercession of Mama Mary. Amen.
